Anker's Prime Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station (model A83B5 — not the similarly-named A83B3, which uses DisplayLink instead of native Thunderbolt) routes video natively through its Intel Barlow Ridge Thunderbolt 5 controller, no DisplayLink chip inside. How many external monitors it drives depends on your Mac's chip: base M1/M2/M3 Macs are capped at one external display, while Pro/Max chips and every M4 Mac get two, up to 6K60 dual on M4 Pro/Max (Windows Thunderbolt 5 PCs reach dual 8K60 instead). HDMI and DisplayPort share one video path and can't be used at the same time — it's one or the other. Connect over plain DisplayPort Alt Mode instead of Thunderbolt, and you're limited to a single monitor no matter what chip you have.
