A documented EDID handshake bug causes complete audio silence over HDMI — SteamOS reads the card's default EDID as "no speakers" and stops sending audio. Fixing it requires running Elgato's 4K Capture Utility on a Windows PC first to force an "Internal EDID" profile that declares audio capability.
