USB-C and Thunderbolt gear confirmed for Steam Deck
Steam Deck has a single USB-C port carrying video (DisplayPort Alt Mode), data, and Power Delivery at the same time. That's why so many confirmations below come with a power-budget caveat, not just a yes/no on video output — the port is doing three jobs at once, and something usually gives first.
247 products confirmed here: 75 docks, 53 monitors, 38 chargers, 36 hubs, 33 capture cards, 9 adapters, 2 cables, 1 KVM switch.
Native video output isn't guaranteed just because a dock has the right ports. The Targus DOCK190 doesn't drive native video on the Steam Deck at all — the only way to get a picture is DisplayLink software mode, which means disabling SteamOS's read-only filesystem and compiling kernel modules by hand, a setup that breaks again with every SteamOS update.
"USB-C monitor" doesn't automatically mean it charges your Deck. Several monitors marketed with Power Delivery, like the ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE, have zero bidirectional passthrough — they power their own panel but forward nothing back to the handheld, which drains normally during play regardless of the connection.
Even a fully confirmed product can hide a real quirk: the Elgato HD60 X loses HDMI audio entirely on Steam Deck due to a documented EDID handshake bug. The fix isn't on the Deck's side — you have to run Elgato's 4K Capture Utility on a separate Windows PC first to force the right EDID profile.
Every entry below links to its source and the exact confirmation it's based on. See the FAQ for how we verify this.

Docks (75)
- Anker 575 USB-C Docking Station (13-in-1, A8392)Confirmed — caveat
Basic multi-display USB-C output works with the Steam Deck (used to drive 3 monitors for a Batocera/VPX pinball cabinet setup), but a specific software issue disconnects one of the three displays (the DMD screen) as soon as the frontend finishes loading.
- Anker 563 USB-C Docking Station (10-in-1, A8395)Confirmed — caveat
A Steam Community post confirms the dock's dual-display output works reliably with the Steam Deck.
- CalDigit TS5 Plus (Thunderbolt Station 5 Plus)Confirmed — caveat
Per community reports, the dock can operate over the Steam Deck's 10Gbps USB-C connection, but performance is severely limited: Ethernet does not work, and most of the dock's USB ports require PCIe passthrough, which the Steam Deck's controller doesn't support.
- Anker 555 USB-C Hub (8-in-1, A8383)Confirmed — caveat
Initially failed to work with the Steam Deck at all (reported as completely non-functional), but a Valve SteamOS update released April 26th made it fully functional — video, Ethernet, and data all work now.

- j5create JCD401 USB4 Dual 4K Multi-Port HubConfirmed — caveat
Confirmed working via the HDMI port (video + charging). The secondary USB-C DP output on the dock does not work with the Steam Deck, since exposing a DP port there requires Thunderbolt/USB4 host support the Deck lacks.
- Targus DOCK190 USB-C Universal Dual Video 4K Docking StationConfirmed — caveat
Per community reports, this dock does NOT drive native video output on the Steam Deck — it only works through DisplayLink software mode, which requires disabling SteamOS's read-only filesystem and manually compiling kernel modules, a setup that breaks with every SteamOS update.
- Confirmed

USB-C hubs (36)
- Anker 553 USB-C Hub (8-in-1, A8380)Confirmed — caveat
Stable enough on Steam Deck that the community has designed 3D-printable dock stands specifically for this hub. Its DP Alt Mode handling supports high refresh rates, though the firmware sometimes hard-caps ultrawide monitors at 100Hz instead of the advertised 144Hz.
- Baseus Metal Gleam Series 9-in-1 USB-C Hub (B00030701811-00)Confirmed — caveat
Demonstrated on video driving a competitive game on an external monitor at 1080p/144Hz via Steam Deck, indicating clean EDID handling.

Strong evidence: the community has produced CAD-designed dock mounts built to this exact hub's tolerances specifically to house the Steam Deck.
- Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1, A8355)Confirmed — caveat
Recommended in the community-maintained Steam Deck Guide on GitHub for its clean, thermally stable output. Reserves 15W internally, so using the stock 45W charger leaves less headroom for the console — a higher-wattage charger avoids the deficit.
- Belkin CONNECT USB-C 4-in-1 Multiport Adapter (AVC006)Confirmed — caveat
Handles power delivery and resolution correctly, but its short-cable dongle form factor creates a cantilever on Steam Deck's top-mounted port; the community has needed 3D-printed physical supports to prevent long-term stress on the console's USB-C solder joints.
- HyperDrive SOLO 7-in-1 USB-C Hub (GN21D-SILVER)Confirmed — caveat
The hub's flush-mount single USB-C connector is physically designed for MacBooks; users route around it on Steam Deck with a USB-C extension cable, at which point data/video negotiate normally.
- UGREEN Revodok Pro 106 6-in-1 USB-C Hub (45363)Confirmed — caveat
Manufacturer-confirmed driver-free compatibility. Note the dedicated 10Gbps USB-C data port is data-only — it does not carry video or charging.
- Confirmed
- CHOETECH 7-in-1 USB-C Hub Stand (HUB-M48)Confirmed — caveat
Named for this exact SKU in a distributor catalog listing (alongside Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go, MSI Claw); no independent community confirmation found.
- UGREEN Revodok Pro 107 7-in-1 USB-C Hub (15531)Confirmed — caveat
Manufacturer confirms compatibility for Steam Deck. Video output is capped at 4K@30Hz due to bandwidth arbitration with the hub's 10Gbps data ports.
- Anker Nano USB-C Hub (7-in-1, 4K HDMI, A83D2)Confirmed — caveat
Sourced from a single retailer product page with vague "and more" phrasing rather than a technical or community source — treat this confirmation as weak.
- Confirmed

Confirmed via a community-designed 3D-printable Steam Deck stand built specifically to be compatible with this hub.
- LENTION USB C Hub with 4K HDMI, 3 USB 3.0, SD/Micro SD Card Reader (CB-C18)Confirmed — caveat
Named on the retailer's "Stable Driver Certified" compatibility list for Steam Deck. This is a legacy design; likely capped at 4K@30Hz given the HDMI controller generation.
- UGREEN Uno 6-in-1 USB C Hub (35998)Confirmed — caveat
UGREEN's own product page describes a two-position aluminum stand fitted specifically to Steam Deck (OLED), ROG Ally (X), and Legion Go.
- Confirmed
- CalDigit Element 5 Hub (E5)Confirmed — caveat
CalDigit support confirms it works via USB 3.2 Gen 2 fallback (single external monitor through DP Alt Mode), but the hub's 60W cap triggers a "slow charging" warning under heavy load.
- Confirmed
- Confirmed
- Sabrent Multi-Port USB-C Hub with Power Delivery and HDMI (HB-SHPU)Confirmed — caveat
Verified through the seller Q&A rather than a review: confirmed to charge through Valve's official Steam Deck dock in a daisy-chain topology, and to recover display output cleanly after sleep/wake (S3) cycles without a black screen — a common failure point for cheaper hubs on SteamOS.
- Confirmed
- uni USB C Hub 8-in-1 (U336)Confirmed — caveat
Manufacturer confirms Steam Deck compatibility, with the caveat that every display link in the chain must support HDCP or the picture will not render (a SteamOS/Linux handshake quirk, not a hub defect).
- Lenovo USB-C 3-in-1 Hub (GX90T33021)Confirmed — caveat
A minimalist travel hub with a legacy HDMI 1.4 controller, hard-capped at 4K@30Hz. Fine for desktop use at 1080p/60Hz, but the 30Hz ceiling introduces noticeable input lag at higher resolutions in games.

Adapters (9)
- Confirmed
- j5create USB-C to HDMI & USB 3.0 with Power Delivery (JCA379)Confirmed — caveat
A Reddit user reports this dock outputs video over HDMI to the Steam Deck, but the connection typically stops working if an additional USB peripheral (like a wireless mouse dongle) is plugged in — power draw appears to be the limiting factor.
- Belkin USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 Cable (AVC014bt2MBK)Confirmed — caveat
Retailer FAQ explicitly names Steam Deck (desktop mode) and MacBook Air/Pro as compatible. Passive DP 1.4 cable — no protocol conversion, so the compatibility risk is inherently low compared to active adapters.
- uni USB-C to DisplayPort Cable 8K (UNICDP8K02 / UA96)Confirmed — caveat
"I dock my Steam Deck... uni." — confirmed as the DisplayPort cable used in a cloud-gaming dock setup.
- Plugable USB-C to 2.5G Ethernet Adapter (USBC-E2500)Confirmed — caveat
Official Plugable documentation names this exact hardware family: "Windows and Linux based hand-held consoles like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Legion Go include drivers." Linux hot-plug bug documented separately: on Pop!_OS/Ubuntu, connecting after boot or connecting the network cable late can leave the link permanently undetected or fall back to 100 Mbps until reboot.
- Apple USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack AdapterConfirmed — caveat
"If you use the Apple USB C to 3.5mm headphone adapter, the onboard mics will still function even when outputting to your headphones" — unlike most USB-C DACs, this one does not fully hijack the audio routing away from the Deck's built-in microphones.
- iFi Audio GO linkConfirmed — caveat
Negative evidence: "I tried the ifi go link but there was a lot of hiss and pop when navigating the menus of the SD (which quickly becomes annoying)" — audible electrical noise triggered by basic UI navigation.
- Confirmed
- Cable Matters USB-C to 8K DisplayPort Multiport Adapter with Power Delivery (201046)Confirmed — caveat
Negative evidence: "A 'why doesn't this work' dock: Cable Matters 201046... not the steam deck" — the hub fails to process Multi-Stream Transport (display daisy-chaining) with the Steam Deck despite working on HP docking stations.

Monitors (53)
- Confirmed
- Arzopa Z1FCConfirmed — caveat
Enabling VRR above a 60Hz base refresh rate causes severe flickering and display corruption on Steam Deck — stable operation caps at 1080p@60Hz with VRR active; higher refresh rates work fine only with VRR disabled. Also, both USB-C cables must be connected simultaneously to reach full 144Hz and full brightness — powering it from the Deck alone caps brightness at roughly 80%.
- Confirmed
- LG UltraGear 27GR93U-BConfirmed — caveat
Works standalone, but a dual-monitor MST setup via the official dock is unreliable — only one of the two monitors gets detected at a time.
- Confirmed
- Confirmed
- Gigabyte M28UConfirmed — caveat
No USB-C Power Delivery — video works but the Deck won't charge while connected.
- Confirmed
- UPERFECT UGame C2 Pro (GR16EQ)Confirmed — caveat
A Steam Deck LE OLED could not reliably power this monitor over a single USB-C cable in community testing — the internal power management restricts passthrough charging enough that a static 5V profile fails to sustain the monitor's draw under load.
- Confirmed
- Confirmed
- Arzopa A1 Gamut Slim (14")Confirmed — caveat
Its power management circuitry cannot sustain a positive charge state on a Steam Deck under real gaming load — the passthrough profile is too weak against the SoC's draw, resulting in a documented ~1% battery loss every ten minutes of connected use.
- ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16FCConfirmed — caveat
A Newegg listing for the MQ16FC names Steam Deck, ROG Ally and Legion Go explicitly as compatible devices.
- Confirmed
- ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPEConfirmed — caveat
Despite marketing implying otherwise, the monitor has zero bidirectional Power Delivery passthrough capability — it draws power for its own battery/panel but cannot forward any of it to a connected handheld, which will drain its battery during extended play regardless of connection.
- Confirmed
- Espresso Displays 17 ProConfirmed — caveat
Reaching 100% brightness requires the separate Espresso Charge battery pack — the Deck alone can't supply enough power.
- ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDMConfirmed — caveat
Reaching 4K@240Hz requires manually setting the monitor's USB hub speed to 2.0 (from the default 3.2) to free up enough DisplayPort bandwidth.
- Sony INZONE M9 (SDM-U27M90)Confirmed — caveat
Mixed reports — works for some users, others report compatibility issues.

Does not work as a power source — a Reddit comment notes the XG349C's USB-C output is not enough to power a laptop or Steam Deck.
- Confirmed
- LG UltraGear 27GP850-BConfirmed — caveat
A bug report on the official ValveSoftware/gamescope GitHub tracker documents both the 27GP850-B and the Steam Deck's built-in display going black in Gaming Mode.
- Dell UltraSharp 27 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U2724DE)Confirmed — caveat
A second monitor daisy-chained via DisplayPort MST isn't detected — works fine on Windows, but SteamOS doesn't recognize the chained display.
- Confirmed
- Dell UltraSharp 32 4K USB-C Hub Monitor (U3223QE)Confirmed — caveat
Works, though the 32-inch size looked oversized paired with the Deck's small form factor.
- Philips Evnia 34M2C8600Confirmed — caveat
The 'Smart Size > 1:1' scaling option needed for the correct aspect ratio is oddly disabled while the Steam Deck is connected.
- Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 49" (LS49AG952NNXZA)Confirmed — caveat
Confirmed working correctly running Windows 11 or Linux on the handheld, outputting the 32:9 ultra-wide resolution efficiently without major issues.
- AOC AGON PRO AG456UCZDConfirmed — caveat
90W USB-C Power Delivery, confirmed sufficient for a Steam Deck OLED.
- Gigabyte M34WQConfirmed — caveat
The USB-C input is intermittently not detected until switching cables; enabling VRR causes a permanent black screen (works fine over Thunderbolt without VRR).
- Confirmed
- ViewSonic VX1655-4K-OLEDConfirmed — caveat
Community members specifically single out this monitor as an excellent Steam Deck pairing, citing the real bidirectional USB-C charging as the key differentiator over cheaper portable panels.
- ASUS ZenScreen MB16ACVConfirmed — caveat
Some users get a 'device does not support DP Alt mode, please install the latest driver' error either directly or through a dock — others report it working fine.
- Confirmed
- Confirmed
- Gigabyte M27UConfirmed — caveat
The USB-C downstream KVM delivers mouse, keyboard, 15W charging, video and audio over one cable, though the 15W charging is modest.
- HP OMEN 27kConfirmed — caveat
DisplayPort Alt Mode video works, but there's no Power Delivery at all on the USB-C port — can't run off a single cable.
- Gigabyte M27Q P (M27Q-PRO)Confirmed — caveat
The USB-C port used for the KVM function gets disabled after a period of use, breaking the connection.
- Confirmed
- Dell S2722DGMConfirmed — caveat
Tested successfully in a triple-screen productivity/display setup, proving good compatibility with the dock structure of the handheld.
- Dell Pro 24 Plus Touch USB-C Hub Monitor (P2424HT)Confirmed — caveat
Touch input is wildly inaccurate — keyboard and mouse work normally.
- ViewSonic TD1655Confirmed — caveat
Works as an external display, but frequently shows a blank screen unless using the exact OEM USB-C cable; simultaneous charging is highly problematic.
- Confirmed
- Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30Confirmed — caveat
Functions effectively as a direct dock replacement, letting users bypass standalone hubs entirely with a single cable.
- LG 40WP95C-WConfirmed — caveat
Mixed reports — the screen cuts out or stays black for some users at 5120x2160 over USB-C, while others report it working fine.
- INNOCN 27M2VConfirmed — caveat
Confirmed to handle the Deck's forced 40Hz output smoothly.
- Confirmed
- ViewSonic ELITE XG321UGConfirmed — caveat
The monitor's NVIDIA G-Sync Ultimate module has zero AMD FreeSync support, so an AMD-APU handheld like the Steam Deck will display video fine but gets no VRR at all — expect tearing without it.
- Confirmed
- Confirmed
- Dell P2422HEConfirmed — caveat
Does not reliably work after resume — a Reddit user reports the Steam Deck stays docked and charging but the P2422HE shows nothing over HDMI, and neither a restart nor sleep/wake fixed it.

- BenQ Mobiuz EX480UZConfirmed — caveat
The monitor's 90W USB-C downstream port was successfully tested connecting to and charging a Steam Deck.
Capture cards (33)
- Elgato 4K XConfirmed — caveat
Confirmed working by the community when connected via a standard USB-C dock as the video source. Requires a genuine 10Gbps-rated USB-C cable — dropping to a 5Gbps connection removes 10-bit HDR (P010) support at 4K60 and forces more compressed capture formats. If the passthrough signal to the monitor triggers Display Stream Compression, the capture feed can go black, requiring a lower resolution/refresh on the source.
- AVerMedia Live Gamer ULTRA 2.1 (GC553G2)Confirmed — caveat
AVerMedia's own product selector tool explicitly lists the GC553G2 as compatible with Steam Deck.
- Elgato HD60 XConfirmed — caveat
A documented EDID handshake bug causes complete audio silence over HDMI — SteamOS reads the card's default EDID as "no speakers" and stops sending audio. Fixing it requires running Elgato's 4K Capture Utility on a Windows PC first to force an "Internal EDID" profile that declares audio capability.
- AVerMedia Live Gamer EXTREME 3 (GC551G2)Confirmed — caveat
A Reddit user reports buying the Live Gamer EXTREME 3 specifically to capture their Steam Deck.
- Confirmed
- AVerMedia Live Gamer MINI (GC311)Confirmed — caveat

A Reddit user confirms using the original ShadowCast to stream their Steam Deck in 1080p to a laptop.

- Accsoon SeeMoConfirmed — caveat
A Reddit user recommends the SeeMo to route Steam Deck video to an iOS device as a monitor.
- AVerMedia Live Streamer CAP 4K (BU113)Confirmed — caveat
Does not work in Gaming Mode — an official ValveSoftware/SteamOS GitHub issue documents the Steam Deck's screen going black when the BU113 is connected, with mpv showing a black window and reporting "No Video."

- Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ (10GAP9901)Confirmed — caveat
Does not work when paired with a MacBook Pro M1 Max as the recording host — a Reddit user reports OBS is unable to recognize the capture card at all when trying to stream Steam Deck gameplay through it.
- Confirmed
- ClonerAlliance UHD Pro Max (CA-989UPM)Confirmed — caveat
Despite the "Max" naming, the encoding silicon is unchanged from the base UHD Pro — anyone recording fast-paced Steam Deck gameplay at a consistent 60fps must manually drop the capture resolution to 1080p in the menu, since 4K is hard-capped at 30fps.
- NZXT Signal 4K30 (ST-SESC1-WW)Confirmed — caveat
A YouTube video confirms Steam Deck gameplay recorded with no FPS loss using the NZXT Signal 4K30 in OBS Studio.

- Guermok / Kaico GM-VCC-Z29E (USB-C Capture Card)Confirmed — caveat
This capture dock is explicitly marketed and named as a "Capture Card Dock for Switch 2 & Steam Deck" — designed specifically for this use case rather than a generic device sold with an unrelated compatibility list.
- Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ (10GAR9901)Confirmed — caveat
Mixed evidence: comparison footage exists showing smooth playback with this card, but a Reddit user reports jittering/skipping frames and audio distortion when capturing their Steam Deck via HDMI and USB.
- AVerMedia Live Gamer ULTRA (GC553)Confirmed — caveat
Works, but requires a manual EDID fix — the GC553 does not natively support the Steam Deck's 1280x800 resolution; a Reddit user edited and imported a custom EDID via AVerMedia's utility to get it recognized correctly.
- j5create JVA04 (HDMI to USB Type-C Game Capture Station)Confirmed — caveat
The manufacturer explicitly recommends installing a Steam Deck-specific firmware version to maintain a stable connection with this exact device as the source.
Chargers (38)
- Confirmed
- UGREEN Nexode 100W USB-C GaN Charger 4 Ports (CD226)Confirmed — caveat
A user reports insufficient power reaching a Steam Deck through a dock even with this 100W charger connected, pointing to dock-side power negotiation rather than the charger itself as the likely bottleneck.

- Satechi 165W USB-C 4-Port PD GaN Charger (ST-UC165GM)Confirmed — caveat
"I use a Satechi 165W 4-port charger. That charges my (non-gaming) laptop, Steam Deck, ROG Ally... Even works with my Legion Go S." Separate reports document a severe multiport load-balancing bug when a corporate HP EliteBook/ZBook G10 shares the charger with a second device.
- UGREEN Nexode 65W GaN (CD244)Confirmed — caveat
A traveling user reports relying on this 65W charger for their Steam Deck. Negative caveat from a separate report: when a second cable is plugged into the same charger even without an active device on the other end, the Deck loses access to its optimal 15V/3A profile and falls back to a ~12W emergency profile; the charger has also been reported to thermal-throttle and disable the 20V rail after ~30 minutes of sustained 65W draw.
- Anker Prime 67W GaN Wall Charger (3 Ports, A2669)Confirmed — caveat
Official Anker product page explicitly warns: "Charging and playing a Steam Deck at the same time will significantly increase the time required to fully charge." Separate report documents a phantom-load bug: inserting a second USB-C cable into an unused port, even unpowered on the far end, drops the primary port from ~65W to a hard 45W limit.
- Anker 735 Charger (GaNPrime 65W, A2668)Confirmed — caveat
Steam Deck operators using this exact model (A2668) document the OS occasionally showing a "slow charging" warning, a side effect of PowerIQ 4.0 continuously re-adjusting voltage in real time rather than a fixed 15V-profile fault.
- Confirmed

- Anker Prime 240W GaN Desktop Charger (4 Ports, A2342)Confirmed — caveat
Sporadically negotiates only 60W on the port instead of full capacity (erratic behavior reported), but 60W is still well above the Deck's 45W requirement.
- UGREEN Nexode 200W USB-C GaN Charger 6 Ports Desktop Charger (40913)Confirmed — caveat
Documented as compatible in UGREEN's own product documentation. Same VBUS interruption bug documented separately applies: connecting/disconnecting a secondary device briefly cuts power on all active ports.
- UGREEN Nexode 300W 5-Port Desktop Charger (90903)Confirmed — caveat
Official UGREEN product page explicitly lists: "compatible with MacBook Pro/Air/Neo, Dell XPS... iPad Air/Pro, Steam Deck, and more". Separate Reddit report documents the top two USB-C ports permanently ceasing to function after thermal fatigue under sustained high-power use.
- Confirmed

- Confirmed

"I got myself Anker Prime 20,000mAh Power Bank (200W)... it can push higher power for my other devices."
- Anker 737 Power Bank (PowerCore 24K, A1289)Confirmed — caveat
Multiple Steam Deck OLED owners with this exact unit report a handshake failure where the console rejects the PD 3.1 profile, dropping to just 20W with charging-warning lights on — commonly worked around by inserting a USB-C hub or dock between the bank and the console.

- Anker Zolo 140W 4-Port Charger (A2697 / B2697)Confirmed — caveat
Sufficient in isolation (140W) or using the two main ports simultaneously (70-100W each) — enough headroom above the ~45W Deck needs. Use one of the two primary USB-C ports, not the fixed-40W third port.

- Cable Matters 201075 (14-in-1 Dual 4K 60Hz USB-C KVM Switch Dock)Confirmed — caveat
The manufacturer directly responded to a customer question about Steam Deck + MacBook compatibility: "It looks like the Cable Matters USB-C KVM Dock (Model: 201075...) should fit your needs perfectly" (2024-07-18). Power Delivery is asymmetric: 100W with a single host, but strictly capped at 65W per port with both hosts connected, which may limit turbo profiles on handhelds.
